Justin Blalock opened this season of Watkins Games of the Week.  This weekend I experienced a superb performance by the Number 2 Ranked Texas Longhorns.  A very good friend Keith Ellison told me 10 years ago when I attempted to give him accolades that it wasn't anything that he did by himself; it just appeared that way. But his success was because of the great shoulders that he stood on.  This weekends game was a wonderful example of that.  Justin Blalock looks like a brick wall that moves.  It is no coincidence that last year Cedric Benson ran for record yards, a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, and a first round draft pick.  And this year the early leader as a heisman hopeful is his quarterback Vince Young.  Justin's quarterback went untouched while he also opening truck sized holes for a freshman runningback, who looked like a heisman candidate.  While Justin's name is never announced over the intercom, the players that count on him know that in his third year of dominating the front line and they are successful because of him.  

 

True to the Watkins tradition Justin will graduate as a red shirt Junior this May from the University of Texas.
