 This summer the nationwide search for the recipient of the 17^th Franklin D. Watkins Memorial Trophy Award kicked-off.  This impressive trophy is produced by Jostens Renaissance to recognize the premiere African-American male high school scholar athletes who exhibit in their personal life a commitment to high academic standards and substantive service to their community.  Well, we are kicking off the local initiative for the 2008 event to be held here by hosting the Reception for the 2007 P.O.W.E.R.S. Women’s Community Awards.   We are extending an invitation to you for the Reception as our guest; this will be an opportunity for you to meet other community leaders, business professionals and activist in a low key social environment.

 P.O.W.E.R.S. Women Network is an organization that works with women entrepreneurs, mentors children and has honored community leaders in the Los Angeles region since 1992.

 I hope that you are able to attend the event on Sunday, October 14^th at the Stinking Rose in Beverly Hills at 3:00 pm to celebrate the kick-off of the local  effort for the 2008 Watkins Awards.  If you want to attend the 2007 P.O.W.E.R.S. Women’s Community Award Banquet the public price for the tickets is $ 300.00. But, we have a limited number of seats available at $ 50.00 each for our supporters; please contact me ASAP if you want to attend either or both events. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
