Shannon King Nash is a seasoned attorney and CPA. She is the owner of the Nash Management Group Inc., a business management company that provides COO and CFO-type services to its clients. The company specializes in helping clients with accounting and bookkeeping, taxes, contracting, overall business management, and business due diligence audits (called business check-ups), whereby clients get a financial, legal and operational check-up. Shannon formerly served as in-house counsel to Amgen Inc, the world's largest biotechnology company, and general counsel to the Amgen Foundation. She has also practiced with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP, and Cooley Godward LLP. In addition to practicing in Boston, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, she recently completed an assignment in Switzerland.
She recently completed her third book, For The Love Of Money: The 411 To Taking Control Of Your Taxes And Building Your Net Worth - afinancial empowerment book that uses popular songs (from Marvin Gaye to Snoop Dogg) to teach valuable finance and tax lessons. Shannon is also the author of "Vault Guide to Tax Law Careers," (Vault Inc., 2004) and "Helping the Non-profit Client," (Kleinrock Publishing, 2004). She's an adjunct professor at California Lutheran University, where she teaches Non-Profit Law.
She is the former Secretary of the American Bar Association (ABA) Tax Section, a professional organization representing over 20,000 tax attorneys; the first African-American officer and the youngest officer since the ABA Tax Section's inception in 1878. She was also chair of the National Bar Association's Tax Committee, the largest and oldest African-American bar association.
Shannon volunteers in her community and serves on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations. She received her Bachelor's degree in accounting and her JD from the University of Virginia. Shannon lives in the greater Los Angeles area with her husband and their two children. In her spare time, Shannon likes to read, write non-fiction books and is an advocate for children with disabilities.
